Here is some practical advise on Lego WeDo 2.0:
- Don't skip the beginning lessons, they are important for later.
- Have students work in small groups, 2 is the suggested ratio per box.
- The kits are expensive! Really create responsibility in the students to not lose pieces (and the pieces are TINY!)
- Assign student pairs a certain box number.
- The rechargeable kits are more expensive, but means you don't have to be changing batteries on the fly.
- Have students use the top of the box to work on their robot. The lid is designed with a lip to keep pieces from wandering off.
- Organize the pieces like the inside of the diagram of the box. This will keep accountability for pieces and also help students work faster.
- Have "reorganizing time" every once in a while to make sure each box set is complete.
- Account for at least an hour for each project.
- In addition to the provided projects in the app, you can look online for all kinds of new ideas. The possibilities are endless.
